THE DETAILS BEHIND THE GAME

About WordleIn1.

WordleIn1 is an independent word-deduction game and toolkit. We build our own scored-clue puzzles and explain how they work. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by The New York Times.

What you can play

The curated vault has 2500 checked puzzles in 500 five-round sets. Daily uses a fixed UTC date mapping, while Unlimited lets you start another set without waiting. The full clue reference explores every unique feedback pattern for 200 selected clue words within the same historical answer list.

Where the words come from

Our 2315-word answer dictionary is a pinned historical snapshot from Kinkelin / WordleCompetition. The broader accepted-guess list comes from Tab Atkins Jr. and contains 14855 words. Neither is described as NYT’s current answer dictionary.

We sorted and deduplicated the word data, computed exact feedback, selected diverse answers, and arranged heuristic levels. Answer and generated puzzle data retain CC BY-SA 3.0 attribution; the accepted-guess list retains its MIT notice. Source-code and upstream-data licenses are separate.

How uniqueness is checked

For a clue and feedback pattern, we check every word in the answer dictionary. The puzzle is unique only when exactly one word produces all five colors. A separate occurrence-count validator rechecks candidate pools, repeated-letter limits and elimination counts. This is a mathematical statement about the pinned list, not every possible English word.

Versions and fair expectations

Current data version: wordlein1-2026-11-03-v1. Daily schedule: UTC, starting November 3, 2026, with 500 fixed sets before cycling. Difficulty labels are our own heuristics. Browser scores are personal records, not a protected online competition.
