A SMALL GUIDE TO BETTER DEDUCTION
How to play Wordle in 1.
Read one scored five-letter clue and find the single answer that fits it. Start with Daily 5 for a shared set, or Unlimited for another set whenever you want. No account is needed.
Your first round, step by step
- Keep every green letter in exactly the same position.
- Include each yellow letter, but move it away from its clue position.
- Exclude gray-only letters. When a letter has colored and gray copies, count the colored copies instead of removing the letter entirely.
- Type five English letters using your keyboard or the on-screen keys. Tap an answer tile to edit a particular position, then press Enter.
- In deduction mode you can try again. Wrong submissions explain a conflict with the original clue; they do not generate an extra scored clue row.
- Finish all five rounds, review your results, and choose the next five when you are ready.
A worked unique-answer example
Try this scored clue before opening the answer. Only one word in our pinned common-answer list matches the complete pattern.
Show the deduction and answer
Keep S, T and A in positions 1, 2 and 3. R is yellow in position 4, so it must move to the only remaining position, 5. E is absent. Of the common words shaped STA_R, STAIR is the only exact match.
Starting from 2315 words, green positions leave 19, yellow constraints leave 1, and exact feedback leaves 1.
Attempts, help and the timer
Default deduction mode allows unlimited accepted-word attempts. The optional one-shot challenge ends a round after one valid submission, correct or wrong. Short entries and words outside the accepted-guess list are rejected without using an attempt. Choose the variant before starting the set.
A logic hint restates what the visible clue implies. The second help step reveals a letter and is clearly labeled assistance. Revealing the complete answer finishes the round as revealed, not solved. Any help is recorded in the result; green sharing squares mean an unassisted solve.
The optional timer pauses when the page is hidden, a game dialog is open, or you are viewing a finished round. You can move between the five rounds without losing your inputs. Daily rounds reset at 00:00 UTC; current progress is saved in this browser.
